Meet the Trainer

Alexis D. Lee BS CCDT

Alexis was born and raised in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. She knew from a young age, and everyone else did too, that no matter where life took her she would end up working with animals. Her career in veterinary medicine started in 2018 with an internship at Ark Animal Hospital that lead to a part-time job as a veterinary professional which then became full time upon her college graduation. She graduated from Coastal Carolina University in 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a focus on Cellular, Genetic, and Molecular Biology.

While her career in veterinary medicine was rewarding, she always felt that something was missing. She had developed a love for training her own dogs and wished to help others discover the joy of forming a better relationship with their dog(s) through training. Alexis decided to go back to school and attend CATCH Canine Trainer’s Academy to pursue becoming a certified professional dog trainer. She achieved this goal in December of 2025, earning the title of CATCH Certified Dog Trainer (CCDT) and graduating the program with distinction.

Alexis is dedicated to training dogs with a compassionate, science based approach utilizing positive reinforcement and the most up to date training techniques and methodology. She feels that the dog-human bond is of the upmost importance and works with clients to learn how to better support, communicate with, and care for their four-legged family member. She is a member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT) and is committed to pursuing continuing education to better serve clients, their dogs, and even her own dogs.

When she is not working in the clinic at Murrells Inlet Veterinary Hospital or training, she can usually be found spending time with her family & friends, enjoying the outdoors, reading a good book, off on an adventure with her dogs, or attending a dog sports event. Alexis is a guardian/dog mom to three dogs: Remington, Gunner, and Barrett. She and “her boys”, as she lovingly calls them, train for and compete in many various dog sports together including Scent work, Barn Hunt, Dock Diving, Agility, FastCAT, Trick Dog, and more! Alexis has experience competing in both American Kennel Club (AKC) performance dog sports and Canine Work and Games (C-WAGS). She is an advocate for all venues of C-WAGS and is very passionate about bringing more opportunities for dog sports to the grand strand. Alexis also became a member of the Myrtle Beach Kennel Club in 2025 and was subsequently nominated and voted in as a board member for 2026.

Aside from her many animal related accomplishments, Alexis is also a certified Rescue Scuba Diver through the National Association of Underwater Instructors (NAUI) and enjoys every opportunity she gets to be underwater.

Meet the boys

  • Remington

    Binx’s Locked N Loaded Remington BCAT SEN TKN CW-SP

    Remington, aka Remi, is a 9 year old Beagle, Lab, and Chesapeake Bay Retriever mix. He is the “OG” and was Alexis’s first dog that was 100% hers. Remi enjoys going new places, sniffing ALL the things, and saying hi to everyone. He currently competes in Scent Work, FastCAT, and also enjoys Trick Dog training. He is currently learning Shed Hunting and hopes to compete in a Shed Dog Trial in 2026.

    Remi is jokingly the “poster child” for the Premack Principle and taught Alexis a significant amount about working with dogs who find life rewards more reinforcing that food rewards.

  • Gunner

    Causey’s Smokin Gun TKN CW-SP

    Gunner is a 3 year old American Staffordshire Terrier mix who is full of drive and loves to work! Gunner was born with a genetic heart condition called Pulmonic Stenosis and underwent heart surgery at NC State Veterinary Hospital when he was a year and a half old. Despite not being able to participate in more physically intense sports, Gunner loves competing in Scent Work but his all time favorite sport to train for his Barn Hunt!

    Gunner has big opinions about life and sometimes experiences big feelings. He has given Alexis lots of experience working with reactivity and more sensitive canines.

  • Barrett

    Bean’s On Backup with the Barrett DS

    Barrett, aka Barrett Bean, is a 18 month old Lab and Boykin Spaniel mix. He is full of curiosity, drive, and has been known to get himself into some mischief stealing socks - his favorite “guilty pleasure”. He currently competes in Dock Diving with the North American Diving Dogs organization and earned two dock diving titles during his rookie year. He also enjoys Scent Work and FastCAT and is currently taking Agility lessons.

    Barrett is currently the epitome of an unruly teenager and is teaching his mother the art of patience, persistence, and going back to the basics.

  • David

    aka “Dog Dad”

    David is Alexis’s fiancé and best friend (aside from the dogs). He plays a supporting role in all things dog related and can occasionally be found on the sidelines of dog sport events acting as the amateur camera crew for Alexis and her dogs.
